Every Purchase Supports Animal Welfare and Conservation

Matria Studio isn't just a jewellery brand. A portion of every sale goes toward animal welfare and conservation work — because we don't want to only take from the natural world we source our materials from. We want to give something back, using the fastest tool we have, even if it's modest.

Where it goes

We support a mix of larger and smaller organisations working in animal rescue, welfare, and conservation, including:

  • Working Animals Abroad
  • Animals Asia
  • Four Paws
  • WIRES
  • Humane World for Animals
  • The Orangutan Project
  • International Animal Rescue
  • Soi Dog Foundation
  • The Kind Farm
  • IFAW
  • World Animal Protection
  • Sulala Animal Rescue

along with several smaller organisations that don't have the visibility of the bigger names, but do essential work on very limited budgets.

What we've given

Last financial year, Matria Studio donated approximately $4,000 AUD to animal welfare and conservation causes — including organisations responding to urgent rescues and working in active conflict zones, where funding gaps are often most severe.

Beyond that, we send small monthly donations to the organisations listed above. It's not a large amount from any single purchase, but it's consistent, and consistency is what keeps a lot of these groups running.

Why this matters to us

Many of these organisations operate on very tight budgets, and the situations they respond to — animal abuse, war, wildfires, mass displacement — don't wait for funding to catch up.

We're also aware of the bigger picture. Human activity has driven what scientists now call the sixth mass extinction. Wild animal populations have declined so sharply that wildlife now makes up an estimated 4% of mammal biomass on Earth. Forests continue to be cleared for cattle grazing, and widespread pesticide use is driving a parallel collapse in pollinator populations — the insects much of our food system depends on.

We can't fix any of that with a jewellery brand. But we can choose not to look away from it, and we can send what we're able to toward the people already doing the work.

You don't have to buy something to help

If any of these organisations resonate with you, we'd genuinely encourage you to donate directly — even a small, recurring amount makes a difference to groups this size.
In nowadays democracy, as consumers, we have more power that we think.
